Welcome to Affida ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal and financial information when you use our application to aggregate and track your personal finances.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve our services to you:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, password hash, and user preferences when you register.
  • Financial Data (via Plaid): Bank account balances, transaction history, credit limits, and APRs. We do not store your banking login credentials.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our dashboard, charts, and budget tools.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used strictly for providing the Affida service:

  • To aggregate and categorize your financial transactions.
  • To generate net worth trends, spending pacing, and budget tracking visuals.
  • To calculate and visualize credit card rewards based on rules you define.
  • To provide automated alerts regarding low balances or overspending (if enabled).

4. Third-Party Integrations (Plaid)

We use Plaid Technologies, Inc. ("Plaid") to connect your Affida account with your financial institutions. By using our service, you grant us and Plaid the right, power, and authority to act on your behalf to access and transmit your personal and financial information from the relevant financial institution. You agree to your personal and financial information being transferred, stored, and processed by Plaid in accordance with the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures, including HTTPS encryption in transit and database encryption at rest. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

6. Your Rights & Account Deletion (The Right to be Forgotten)

You have the right to access, update, export, and delete your personal information. You can permanently delete your Affida account and all associated financial data at any time from the Data & Privacy settings tab within the application.

Upon initiating account deletion, we will immediately revoke all active Plaid Access Tokens and execute a cascading deletion across our databases, permanently wiping your user profile, linked accounts, transaction history, and custom configurations.

7. Changes to this Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
